Originally from Pennsauken, New Jersey, Ashely graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law in May 2015. Throughout her time in law school, she worked as a writing fellow and teaching assistant for a legal writing and research professor, and was a research assistant on health care law.
In January 2014, she participated in the Cross Disciplinary Professional Development program in Nicaragua, where she worked with a law professor and other students to assist small businesses with their legal issues. In her third year at Wake Forest, she participated in the Appellate Advocacy Clinic, through which she presented an oral argument before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. The Fourth Circuit ruled in her client’s favor.
Ashley’s other law school experiences include volunteering with the Wake Forest University Pro Bono Project, participating with the London Study Abroad Program, interning for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Renee H. Toliver in Dallas, Texas, and working as a law clerk at Console Mattiacci Law, LLC. Ashley also served as an Articles Editor of the Wake Forest Journal of Law and Policy, Chief Justice of the Wake Forest University Moot Court Team, and both President and Vice President of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA).
